We are celebrating our institution’s success in the 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rankings. 48 out of 51 units were rated at world standard or above. At 94 percent, that’s a significant increase on 71 percent in the previous round three years ago.
These results show we are delivering world-leading research across a broad range of subjects, confirming our reputation as a comprehensive institution conducting quality research with partners around the world. Our authority in the physical, natural, marine and environmental sciences is again highlighted, as well as the significance of our research in the health and clinical sciences. We have also once more achieved high ratings in the social sciences and humanities.
Deakin was awarded a 5-star rating by the prestigious university ranking organisation Quacquarelli Symonds (QS); the rating indicates Deakin is world-class in a broad range of areas, has cutting-edge facilities and is internationally renowned for its research and teaching.
The 2015 Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) placed Deakin University among the top 400 universities in the world. The ranking compares the research impact of thousands of academic institutions worldwide and has a particular focus on science. For a young university like Deakin which researches across a full range of disciplines and has strong focus on teaching excellence, the ranking reflects Deakin’s ongoing commitment to growing world leading research.
Deakin is in the top 50 of the QS ranking of the world’s universities under 50 years and ranks 45 in the 2015 Times Higher Education ranking of the top100 universities under 50 years.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) has been firmly committed to fulfilling its foundational goals of advancing the nation’s science and technology and nurturing excellent talents in those fields. As a result, it has grown into a world-class research university in a relatively short period of just over two decades. In the QS World University Rankings 2015 – 2015, GIST was ranked No. 2 in the world in the category of citations per faculty. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014 – 2015, where GIST was included for evaluation for the first time, it was placed at No. 4 in Korea and at No. 96 in the world in the subject of Engineering and Technology. This clearly shows that GIST can compete with any institution of higher learning around the world in terms of academic and research achievements.
Asia University (AU) is a dynamic higher education institution with great vision. Currently, there are 6 colleges, 22 departments, 25 master degree programs, and 5 Ph. D. programs.
In the past nine years, Asia University had excellent academic performances and was ranked as the first in many higher education evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE). It was not only evaluated in a nationwide university assessment as the best in the group of newly-established universities, but also granted an honored project of university teaching excellency for four consecutive years. Furthermore, all the departments have passed a rigorous department-level evaluation by the MOE recently.
Our professors and students received many awards in different fields. For example, our founder and also a professor of our university, Dr. Chang-Hai Tsai, has received an award for medical contributions from the president of our country. And one of the students of the Department of Social Work, Zheng-Han Liu, received a President Education Award. Furthermore, with outstanding performances in moral education, physical education and internationalization, AU was selected by the MOE as a model university in these aspects.
In 2001, the Institute was ratified to change its name to Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. The Department of Computer Information and Network Engineering, the Department of Multimedia and Game Science, master’s programs in Mechanical Engineering, and the Institute of Business and Administration were established. In 2002, master’s programs in Electrical Engineering and in Electronic Engineering were included. In 2004, the Graduate School of Engineering Technologies was added to the graduate program. In 2009, Graduate School of Business and Management was established. Because of the excellence in teaching and university evaluation results, the establishment of two new departments, Cultural Creativity & Digital Media Design and Tourism & Leisure, are both approved by the Ministry of Education. And the master’s program in Chemical & Materials Engineering will be set up in 2013. Lunghwa hasexpanded from three departments to current three colleges, fourteen departments, and eight graduate schools. Many of the graduates have been outstanding and contributive in the governmental and private sectors.

Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard (HEAJ) was born September 15, 1995 from the merger of the Institute of Higher Pedagogical Education of the French Community in Namur (ESPENA) and the Institute of Economic Higher Education of the French Community Tamines (IESET) in accordance with the Decree of 5 August 1995 laying down the general organization of higher education in High Schools.
In September 2000, the High School Albert Jacquard created the bachelor in graphic techniques aim infographic techniques, specialized training first of its kind in Belgium. The HEAJ was enlarged and a third category, Technical Category, took the name Ecole Albert Jacquard Computer Graphics (ESIAJ). In 2012-2013, one year of specialization in video games was created in collaboration with the University of Namur (link is external).
Finally, during the academic year 2012-2013, a fourth category has been added, it is the paramedical category Higher Education Medical Namur (ESPAN).
This category was created following the decision of the French Community to open a new Bachelor of psychomotor. This new course is organized in co-graduation with the High School of the Province of Namur (HEPN (link is external)).
